More often than not the closest we get to witness the destructive power of Mother Nature is through the lens of someone else’s camera or condensed on the front page of a newspaper.
Disaster Tourism hopes to stimulate and educate by taking you to the scene of disasters – past, present and future – and providing you with a once in a lifetime experience.
We offer a range of Disaster Tourism packages from risk-taking adventures to educational expeditions.
Below is just a sample of our Disaster Experiences. Please drop us an email if you want to create your own personal adventure. Are you brave enough to take a risk and dive in…?
In October 2006 this trip was nominated by National Geographic Traveller magazine as one of their Top 50 Trips of a Lifetime... Need we say more?
In the aftermath of the tsunami, locals were overwhelmed by the generosity but also by the number of people wanting to volunteer in order to assist with the recovery efforts. Continue to assist the relief efforts. We run regular two week trips which offer a combination of time spent assisting the tsunami recovery efforts together with some time for adventure and relaxation.
By joining us your assistance will be two-fold; firstly, through your volunteer work, and secondly by bringing much needed business to the area.
The volunteer work will be at Kuraburi in Phang Nga, a region left devastated after the tsunami in 2004. You will head to the North Andaman Tsunami Relief, an organization that has been assisting with grass roots development projects since the tsunami hit. Here you will be welcomed by staff and shown around the Training Resource Education centre which offers free computers, English and vocational training to villagers.
We’re not forgetting that this will also be your main holiday… so we’ll do our best to make sure it’s fun as well as offering you a unique opportunity to get more involved with the local people.
